It Takes A Village...
We hope to work together with other businesses, groups, & initiatives that share our intention of having a positive, visible impact on the community in which we work & live, as well as the world as a whole. By committing a small percentage of our revenue to various worthwhile causes, we hope to help mitigate some of the adverse effects resultant of tourism-related development.
The most vulnerable groups & areas tend to suffer the greatest & benefit the least with this type of commercial activity. It’s not just our responsibility to acknowledge this reality – it is our duty as humans to take action, in one form or another, if it is reasonably within our ability. It’s cliché but it’s true: Together, we can make a difference.
Positive change requires a concerted effort. Collaboration & cooperation is key to achieving a more equitable & secure future, as well as preserving the quintessential elements which comprise the uniqueness of a place.
The many challenges we face in our efforts to preserve, protect, & prosper as a whole demand thoughtful consideration & focused action to maximize the positive impact of the resources available. It also requires dedication & commitment to the ideal that nobody should – or needs to – go without their basic essentials.
How It Works...
Inspired by The Giving What We Can Pledge to “make a solemn commitment to give at least 10% of our income,” we at RISE Puerto Viejo intend to do just that.
It’s a simple concept & a manageable commitment that can have truly significant results – the only complicated part is determining the best way to allocate the 10%. With numerous causes, it can be difficult, if not impossible, to decide which is more worthy or important than the other.
As part of our pledge, we will strive to be fair, objective, & effective in our efforts to find & assess the most needy groups, projects, &/or initiatives. We will be vigilant in ensuring the ongoing efficacy of our contributions. We are open to input if you are aware of a cause that you believe is in need of funding.
